To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the work to date of the Cardiff Bay development corporation.

During its first year the corporation has carried forward further technical, financial and ecological studies on the barrage proposal; it has also undertaken some significant environmental projects, commenced on a programme of acquiring strategically important land and buildings, and completed a study of the strategy for regenerating its designated area. That study will be the subject of extensive local consultation. A copy of the consultants' report will shortly be placed in the Library of the House.
