Garages (Prosecutions)

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has on the number of prosecutions, in each of the last three years, for giving a false description of work carried out by a motor garage.

We have no information on the total number of prosecutions brought. However, the number of cases of successful prosecutions under section 14 of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968, relating to repairs or servicing of motor vehicles, as reported to the Office of Fair Trading by local trading standards departments, was as follows:
