To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has on the extent of non-payment by sub-contractors on certain North sea oil platforms of national insurance contributions for weeks when employees are on leave.

The Department does not hold central information on the extent of non-payment of national insurance contributions by individual employers on North sea oil platforms. However, if any employee is concerned about his position in national insurance, he can discuss this with his local social security office and the staff there will be pleased to advise or investigate.
