To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make financial provisions to assist the operators of roll-on/roll-off ferries which serve the Scottish islands to either replace or adapt those vessels which do not comply with new IMO stability standards.

International Maritime Organisation stability standards for new vessels will not be considered for adoption until later this year. Until that time it will not be possible to assess the implications for ferry operators.
