To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) by what authority permission was granted to representatives of Sinn Fein to make representations in Irish before the public inquiry into the Belfast urban area plan;(2) what was the cost of providing a translator when representatives of Sinn Fein made representations in Irish before the public inquiry into the Belfast urban area plan on 5 May.

[holding answer 19 May 1988]: All arrangements for the public inquiry are the responsibility of the independent Planning Appeals Commission. I understand, however, that the cost of providing a translator was in the region of £25.
