Green Pound

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what developments he expects in the green pound by the start of the single European market in 1992.

As the next stage in dismantling MCAs by 1992, the recent Council of Ministers' meeting agreed, as part of the price fixing and following United Kingdom pressure, that the green pound will be devalued on 1 January 1989 so as to reduce United Kingdom MCAs by 3ยท2 points. It was also agreed that the Commission should now examine the measures to adopt for future stages.
