To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has any plans to make the A1 a dual carriageway up to the Scottish border.

An improvement scheme for dualling a section of the A1 at Cawledge, south of Alnwick, was recently completed and opened to traffic.Other dual carriageway proposals in the road programme for the A1 north of Morpeth are the Brownieside improvement and Marshall Meadows to the Scottish border improvement.
