To ask the Attorney-General whether he is satisfied with the working of the Crown prosecution service; and if he will make a statement.

Yes. A record of the substantial achievements and progress of the Crown prosecution service for the year ending in July, upon which the service deserves congratulations is contained in the Director of Public Prosecutions' annual report, a copy of Which is in the Library. I commend it to hon. Members. I welcome this opportunity to record my full confidence in the Crown prosecution service and my support for its continuing progress.

To ask the Attorney-General when he last met the Director of Public Prosecutions to discuss the operation of the Crown prosecution service.
