Deprivation Survey

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when he intends publishing his Department's survey of 100 towns facing deprivation in Wales; and if he will include information on how the survey was conducted and the action he is taking in reaction to the survey's findings.

I assume the hon. Gentleman is referring to some work undertaken by my Department to devise a mechanism for the distribution of one of the new allowances payable to general medical practitioners under the new GP contract to take effect on 1 April 1990. The work was undertaken for this specific purpose and is not considered to have any wider application. Discussions continue with representatives of GPs.
