To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what methods he intends to adopt to assess the relative merits of proposals for new underground railway routes in central London.

The costs and benefits of the various options will be assessed with the assistance of the London transportation survey model. Account will also need to be taken of any wider benefits not included in the model.
