To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many income support claimants will be removed from transitional protection in April 1990 but will not benefit fully from the uprating announced on 25 October because their weekly income will not increase by the full amount of the uprating.

Based on the May 1988 annual statistical it is estimated that there will be 280,000 such claimants.
