To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what function is served by the Northern Ireland negotiating body on teachers' salaries.

To negotiate the remuneration and terms and conditions of service of teachers in recognised schools in Northern Ireland. It is also the vehicle for consultation by the Department of Education on matters relating to teachers' superannuation.
