To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will now arrange for further soil samples to be taken around the Rechem incinerator at Pontypool designed to detect polychlorinated hiphenyls at levels significantly lower than 200 parts per billion.

[holding answer 20 December 1989]: I am considering what further action may be necessary in the light of the recent results of monitoring undertaken by the Welsh Office in the Pontypool area.
