To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to reduce the cost of borrowing for agricultural investment.

I recognise that high interest rates are unwelcome to the agricultural industry; but farming and agricultural investment, in common with other businesses, would be damaged more by a resurgence of inflation than by a period of higher interest rates.
