To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what measures he is taking to improve security at his Department's establishments in West Germany; and if he will make a statement.

It would not be appropriate to comment on individual security measures. However, a wide range of new security measures have been implemented recently in West Germany and further major measures are in prospect. Close liaison is also maintained with the Federal Republic of Germany authorities, which have primary responsibility for the prevention of terrorist crimes outside United Kingdom bases.
