To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make it his policy to enact measures to bring the non-domestic rating system as it applies to private school accommodation in line with the practice south of the border.

Certain questions about the treatment for valuation and rating purposes of pupil accommodation at boarding schools in Scotland are currently the subject of appeal to the Lands Tribunal for Scotland. Against the background of my general desire to secure harmonisation between Scotland and England, I am considering whether there are any steps I should take.
