To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many women have been strip searched in each of the last 10 years in Northern Ireland.

The strip-searching procedures for female prisoners were introduced at Armagh prison in November 1982. Yearly figures for the number of women strip searched are only available from 1985 onwards. The details for 1985 to 1989 are as follows:
