To ask the Attorney-General if the Government have any plans to introduce leasehold reform—commonhold—legislation.

The Lord Chancellor announced in June 1988 that the Government had arranged for draft legislation to be prepared at the Law Commission to give effect to the proposals contained in the report of the working group on commonhold (Cm 179) under the chairmanship of Mr. T. M. Aldridge. That work is still in progress. No final decision has yet been taken about the implementation of the report, nor can I give any indication of when legislation on commonhold may be introduced.
