To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many local authorities are known to have installed speed restricting measures, such as road humps, in residential areas; and when his Department will have completed the revision of regulations aimed at the wider installation of road humps.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he will lay before Parliament the revised road hump regulations.

Road humps and other speed restricting measures are installed by local authorities at their own discretion. Consequently, no central records are kept. The appropriate use of road humps should make a significant contribution to the safety of local roads and we aim to bring the new regulations into force before Easter.
