To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are the latest figures on capital investment by business.

Business investment was 12ΒΌ per cent. higher in real terms in the first three quarters of 1989 than in the same period in 1988. In the two years to 1988 business investment grew by over 30 per cent.
