To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what safeguards there are on the suitability of private security firms.

A number of trade associations in the industry have developed standards and codes of practice, which their members are required to follow, and which are subject to inspection.My right hon. and learned Friend is considering, in the light of the report of a Home Office working group on the self-regulation of the industry, the scope for improving existing regulatory arrangements.
