To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what steps he will take to ensure that the timetable for reviewing the proposals for renewable energy projects does not preclude a full environmental assessment.

All renewable energy projects will have to comply with normal planning procedures.My Department's research programme on renewable energy includes extensive work on environmental assessment to help provide information on which the environmental acceptability of renewable energy technologies could be judged.
