To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has made any reassessment of the location of the eastern boundary in Europe which NATO is committed to defending.

We support the wish of both German Governments that a unified Germany should be a member of the North Atlantic alliance, as this would contribute to stability and security in Europe. The implications for NATO are under consideration.
