To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what will be the future role of the Strathclyde police in the protection of Royal Ordnance, Bishopton;(2) what would be the responsibility of the Strathclyde police for any serious incident taking place at Royal Ordnance, Bishopton.

The police are responsible for the containment and investigation of any serious incident wherever it may take place. The chief constable of Strathclyde has discussed the future security arrangements at ROF Bishopton with the Ministry of Defence; and the role he proposes for Strathclyde police is an operational matter for him.
