To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of births to women prisoners have been stillborn in each of the last 10 years.

There were eight deliveries within prison service establishments between 1 January 1979 and 31 March 1989 none of which were still births. Figures for still births in outside hospitals are not collected centrally, and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of pregnancies of women prisoners have resulted in a miscarriage in each of the last 10 years.
