To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the source of the table on page 68, appendix 3(ii), of the Scottish Health Service Advisory Council's publication of December 1989 entitled "Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease in Scotland".

The table was compiled from the following three sources:

  • 2. National Advisory Committee on Nutritional Education: Proposals for Nutritional Guidelines for Health Education in Britain (The NACNE Report), London: Health Education Council, 1983.
  • 3. Thomson M et al. Alcohol Consumption and Nutrient Intake in Middle-aged Scottish Men. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 1988; 47: 139–45.
  • Copies of the first two reports are in the Library.
