To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans his Department has to deal with financial problems affecting the Leicestershire health authority; and if he will make a statement on what progress has been made in this matter.

As the hon. Member is well aware, district health authorities are responsible for living within their cash limits. Leicestershire health authority has a budget of £222 million for 1990–91 and has produced prudent plans to make sure it can balance its books.
