To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on BSE in Wales.

At 18 May, a total of 948 cases of BSE had been confirmed on 681 farms in Wales. All necessary steps have been taken by the Government to deal with this disease and the consumer can have every confidence in the safety of beef as a wholesome and nutritional food.
