To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many representations have been made by Her Majesty's Government to the Chinese Government on the subject of human rights since the events in Tiananmen square in June 1989.

We, either on our own account or acting together with our European partners, have made numerous representations, both formally and informally, to the Chinese Government on the subject of human rights since June 1989. The Chinese Government can be in no doubt of our views on this issue.
