To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what consideration is being given to contractorising the mooring services functions of the Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service.

The mooring and salvage work undertaken by the Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service is currently the subject of studies to determine future requirements. Whether this work should be offered to competitive tender will depend upon the outcome of those studies.
