To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will publish figures for (a) a single pensioner and (b) pensioner couples showing the effects of community charge benefit on their net weekly incomes, assuming a community charge of (i) £300, (ii) £400 and (iii) £500, and weekly incomes other than the relevant state basic pension of £10, £20, £30, £40, £50, £60, £70, £80, £90, £100, £150 and £200.

1 "Gross Income" comprises, the basic state retirement pension plus £10, £20, £30 … £100, £150 and £200.

2 Net Income is gross income, calculated as at 1, less income tax. For the purposes of independent taxation, it is assumed that in pensioner couples all income other than the wife's state retirement pension is allocated to the husband.
