To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he has made a recent assessment of the respective costings of electricity generated from (a) nuclear power and (b) renewable energy sources.

The Department's latest estimates for the generating costs of renewable technologies are published in energy paper No. 55, a copy of which is in the Library of the House. Nuclear costs are a matter for the industry.
