To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his reply of 12 June, Official Report, columns 150–51, whether he intends to issue guidance in respect of pay to protect specific groups of workers and to prevent shortages in specialisms across the country.

There are no plans to issue guidance on pay in national health service trusts. Guidance will be issued on non-medical education and training to ensure an adequate supply of suitably trained staff throughout the national health service.
