To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many new council properties for rent he expects to be completed during 1990 and 1991.

In the first four months of 1990, 4,300 new council dwellings are provisionally estimated to have been completed. The Government do not forecast council housing output. Housing associations are becoming the main providers of new subsidised housing for rent.
