To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information he has on the number of people six to 12 months in arrears on their mortgage repayments.

The latest available figures show that at end 1989 there were approximately 58,000 mortgage loans six to 12 months in arrears. This represents less than ½ per cent. of total owner-occupied dwellings in the United Kingdom.
