To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make it his policy to collect the statistics necessary to estimate the number of children who are not receiving care from local authority social services and social workers in cases in which there is a statutory duty to provide such care.

There are no present plans to do so. The regional offices of the social services inspectorate will continue to monitor the situation within their areas.
