To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps have been taken to improve the budgetary allocation in respect of the social fund to each of the social security offices in South Down.

This year's allocations to social security offices took greater account of the level of demand for social fund payments in each area. A copy of a paper describing the allocation formula is available in the Library.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the budgetary allocation to each of the social security offices in South Down in each of the years (a) 11 April 1988 to 31 March 1989, (b) 1 April 1989 to 31 March 1990, and (c) 1 April 1990 to 31 March 1991.
