To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the Scottish-based organisations which he has recommended for consideration as part of the European Environment Agency network.

The EC regulation establishing the agency was adopted by the Council of Ministers on 7 May 1990 and will take effect once its location has been decided by the Council. Once the agency begins its work, which will not be before that date, we shall be considering the merits of organisations for inclusion in a list of candidates for the agency's information network.
