To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has any plans to improve present arrangements for compensating house owners where properties are acquired for transport improvement.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment is presently considering the responses to a consultation paper, containing proposals for improvements to land compensation, issued last year. He intends to bring forward legislation when the parliamentary timetable permits.
