To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he has received any proposals to introduce trolleybus routes.

The West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire passenger transport executives have both obtained powers to introduce trolleybus routes in their areas. The West Yorkshire PTE has put worked up proposals to the Department for an experimental route in Bradford, and I recently agreed to provide credit approvals for the costs of the infrastructure.
