Nurses (Grading Appeals)

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what deadline he has set for all clinical grading appeals by nurses which are currently outstanding.

[holding answer 12 July 1990]: A majority of health boards have already completed their regrading appeal hearings. Initial reluctance on the part of the staff side to co-operate in arranging hearings led to considerable delays in the commencement of the appeal hearings programme. These difficulties have now been overcome and health boards have been asked to ensure that the backlog of hearings is cleared as quickly as practicable.
