To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the situation in Kashmir.

We remain concerned about the situation in Kashmir and welcome the discussions between India and Pakistan on ways of reducing tension. We hope these will result in progress on confidence building measures, and allow the wider issues involved to be tackled in the spirit of the 1972 Simla agreement on bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.
