Crisis Loans

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what proportion of the budgeting loans budget was spent on crisis loans for those making an initial claim for income support and awaiting payment in arrears for the years (a) April 1988 to March 1989 and (b) April 1989 to March 1990 in (i) the local offices within the Leeds metropolitan area and (ii) nationally as (1) an actual figure and (2) a percentage.

The tables show the crisis loan expenditure by the Department's offices nationally and in Leeds arising from applications for applicants awaiting an initial payment of benefit.
