To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will place in the Library copies of the guidance notes issued by his Department asking health authorities to balance the services provided by specialist clinics and those provided by general practitioners as they relate to the menopause.

The guidance referred to in my reply to my hon. Friend on 24 July at column 176, relates to family planning services. No specific guidance has been issued on menopause clinics. The provision of services for the women concerned is a matter for local health authorities to determine in the light of local needs and priorities.
