To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress has been made by Her Majesty's Government in helping Hungary's economic and political development.

The know-how fund for Hungary started in April. It is already running some 60 projects on the basis of priorities agreed with the Hungarians. We are involved in nine projects under the EC PHARE Programme and have taken a lead in promoting the speedy negotiation of an EC/Hungary Association agreement. The United Kingdom also participates in international financial assistance to Hungary.
