To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he last met his Italian counterpart; what discussion took place relating to the Italian presidency of the European Community; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs met the Italian Foreign Minister during the informal meeting of EC Foreign Ministers on 6–7 October in Asolo, Italy. They had discussions on a wide range of European Community issues. They meet frequently and shall do so again shortly during the President of Italy's state visit later this month.
