To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a further statement on how the United Kingdom laws restricting the export of horses and ponies are affected by current discussions in the Council of Ministers; and if he will make a statement.

This subject has not yet been discussed in the Council of Ministers. As explained in the reply given to my hon. Friend on 26 June, we will be pressing to maintain controls on the export of horses and ponies.
