To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the decision to prosecute demonstrators in Hong Kong for using loud hailers without prior permission.

The cases in question are still sub judice, pending the hearing of an appeal lodged by the five convicted persons. The charges were brought under Hong Kong laws and at the decision of the Hong Kong Attorney-General. It is for the Hong Kong Government to handle these cases in accordance with Hong Kong law.
