To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about diplomatic links with Afghanistan, particularly in regard to staffing arrangements in Kabul.

British diplomats were withdrawn from Kabul in February 1989. It is too early to say when they will return. The Afghan Embassy in London continues to operate under a chargé d'affaires.
