To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what are the implications of the 1990 conference on the non-proliferation treaty for the work of his Department.

To the Government's regret, the review conference could not adopt an agreed final document. My Department is still studying the ideas which emerged from the valuable work done in the conference's main committees relating to my responsibilities, notably for safeguards and nuclear supplies.
